Key Control Points for Steel Structure Supervision Witness Inspection

(1) Prior to construction, supervision personnel shall inspect materials entering the site (steel materials, high-strength bolts). Materials must have factory quality certificates and pass on-site sampling and laboratory testing before use. Welding rods, wires, and fluxes must also meet requirements.
(2) Verify the technical qualification certificates of welders involved in fabrication and installation, ensuring they are certified and licensed for the work.
(3) During cutting, reserve allowances for welding shrinkage during fabrication/installation, allowances for machining (e.g., cutting), and the compression deformation value of columns under load, according to process requirements.
(4) During member assembly, prevent twisting and ensure accuracy of member camber.
(5) During welding, adhere to preheating requirements for carbon structural steel thicker than 50mm and low-alloy structural steel thicker than 36mm, and perform post-weld heat treatment (post-heating).
(6) For weld quality acceptance, in addition to checking the external dimensions and surface quality of welds, inspect internal defects through non-destructive testing (NDT) according to the quality grade and defect classification specified in the drawings.
(7) Before column installation, meticulously check the offset value of anchor bolts relative to the axis positions.
(8) Check the verticality of individual column sections, the elevation deviation of column tops within the same level, and the misalignment value at the connection between upper and lower columns.
(9) Steel structure members must have product quality acceptance records and certificates before being shipped to the installation site. After acceptance by the installation department, the supervision engineer shall pay special attention to verifying the completeness of connection components on the members and the status of stud connectors/shear connectors and reserved rebar holes for connections to concrete.
